Installs across Haiti

Since the January 2010 earthquake that devastated Haiti, Let’s Share the Sun Foundation has conducted ten trips to Haiti. During those trips 86 solar panels have been installed at six locations: the Notre Dame Haiti Program building in Leogane; the George Washington Carver School (also Leogane); St. Gabriel’s School in Fontaine; the Ecole Pere Perard School, the St. Francis Xavier Orphanage, and the Institute Universe in Ouanamithe. 77 volunteers traveled to Haiti to help with these installations, trips that have been transformative for the large majority of participants. In addition, hundreds of solar powered LED lanterns have been both donated and sold at subsidized prices to create a micro finance revolving loan project, which is happening now in St. Gabriel’s School. Let’s Share the Sun has also provided financial support to the Mariner’s Church for an installation at the school that they support where Let’s Share the Sun volunteers were not present for the installation.
