Let’s Share the Sun and Wood Mackenzie

In 2021 Let’s Share the Sun began a partnership with research and consultancy group Wood Mackenzie. In March 2022 we completed our first collaborative project installing 10 residential solar systems in Adjuntas, a rural mountain town in Puerto Rico. (Wood Mac Documentary about “Proyecto Cucubano”)

In Adjuntas power is extremely unreliable. After Hurricane Maria in 2017, some residents were without power for as long as 11 months. The grid is over 75% dependent on imported petroleum and homes experience multiple outages a week. Homes with medical necessities, including those with oxygen machines, CPAP, nutrient aliment equipment, hemodialysis machines, and a need for refrigerated insulin are completely reliant on a generator when the power goes out.

A small solar system with battery backup can save families a significant amount of money and worry, especially during natural disasters and extended outages.

Let’s Share the Sun is looking forward to its continued collaboration with Wood Mackenzie and other industry partners.
