Whether it’s your first time traveling with purpose or you’ve joined a service trip before, our step-by-step process ensures you’re supported from the moment you register until you return home.
Tell us your group size, window of travel and fundraising capacity. We reply within a week with candidate sites.

Apply
Safety and solar basics online, a fundraising plan, travel and lodging logistics. Roughly 8–10 weeks out.

Prepare
Two to three days on the roof, then commissioning and handover with the family or facility staff.

Travel
Land in San Juan, meet the host community and the install crew, walk the site and stage materials.

A WEEK ON THE GROUND
What the days look like
Every trip is a little different, as weather, permits and roof conditions move the schedule, but the average delegation’s agenda looks as follows.
Delegations are more than solar installations — they’re about people, culture, and transformation. Linked here is a more detailed sample agenda from a 4-day trip, showing what you can expect when you join Let’s Share the Sun in the field.
Day 1
Arrive in San Juan. Airport pickup, lodging, and dinner with the LSTS crew and the community partner who chose the site.
Day 2
Site walk and safety briefing. Roof assessment, load plan, tool check, ladder and fall-protection training. Materials staged for the build.
Day 3
Racking and panels go up. The longest day. Your group splits between the roof and the ground crew, rotating so everyone does both.
Day 4
Wiring, inverter, battery. Conduit, DC runs, inverter and storage set. Local licensed installers lead every electrical connection.
Day 5
Commissioning and handover. System energized, monitoring configured, and a walkthrough with the family or facility staff who now own it.
Day 6
Debrief, then home. A morning to reflect and photograph, an afternoon on the island, and a flight out. Production data follows by email.
