SOLUZ Honduras

Soluz Honduras is an impact enterprise providing off-grid solar solutions combined with micro- loans for families in rural areas of Honduras that do not have access to electricity from the national electrical utility grid. With decades of experience, Soluz Honduras is committed to advancing Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) #7.1, Universal Access to Energy. To advance SDG #7.1, Soluz has developed a “Universal Access Program” in the Department (Province) of Yoro, Honduras, one of the poorest regions of the country. Let’s Share the Sun’s (LSTS) partnership with Soluz Honduras is currently providing support for the 1,000-household pilot phase of the Universal Access Program.

  • From January 2020 through December 2023 the Universal Access Program delivered off-grid solar kits to approximately 500 families. Of these, ~50% were installed in 2023 as LSTS donors began contributing funding in the amount of $100 per family that accelerated the progress of the program. The funding provides a discount for customers who purchase a solar kit and assists with logistical costs to reach remote areas. Soluz Honduras is now reaching 20-40 new families each month with solar kits with the goal of completing the 1000-household pilot phase in 2025. Soluz has coordinated with national and local governments to help achieve universal access. Beneficiaries of the Universal Access Program have been documented through the Kiva microlending platform and through Let’s Share the Sun Foundation.
